2019 was a very pivotal year and gave rise to experimentation in new media and modes of thought. I became inspired by teachings of mindfulness, meditation, shinrin yoku (森林浴), and zen ink painting. The series develops with the incorporation of color into more existential themes, followed by an exploration of symbols and mythology.

 

The paintings in this series were completed over the course of a few weeks, all on 18 x 24 watercolor paper in ink or combinations of ink, charcoal, watercolor & gouache.
